Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (C.B.T.)
Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is an action-oriented, time limited form of therapy that assumes that faulty thinking patterns cause counterproductive behavior and negative emotions. The treatment focuses on changing one’s thoughts to be more balanced, resulting in more balanced feelings and behaviors. Here at Family Therapeutics we can use this treatment modality to help individual patients gain control over their psychiatric symptoms often times without the use of medications.
We prefer to use it as a first-line treatment when possible for the following: Anxiety Disorders (Panic, Social Phobia) Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Eating Disorders Substance Abuse Problems
A typical course of CBT can run from 12-16 weeks depending on the diagnoses and extent of the treatment required. CBT is centered around current and problematic symptoms and can help a variety of individuals master them. Come in and let us help you gain control!
